Fine Arts Center Interviews

For over 10 years, the American School Foundation, A.C., (ASF), in Mexico City has planned the construction of the Ángeles Espinosa Yglesias Fine Arts Center. As of March 27th, 2012, this dream will become reality thanks to the support of Fomento Educacional, A.C.

In an interview with Sloane Starke, Communications Coordinator at the American School Foundation, A.C., Mexico City, Sloane shares the details of the project and FEAC´s involvement.

What is the ASF's Fine Arts Center project?

The Ángeles Espinosa Yglesias Fine Arts Center consists of a theater with 650 seats adjustable to different configurations. It has a main lobby with a staircase to an art gallery on the second floor. The center also has a series of halls for music and visual arts classes. It offers spaces for theater and musical plays, dance, conferences and banquets.

The building is made of screen-printed crystal and precast concrete. Its lobby has crystal walls on three sides.

What other organizations, foundations and companies have supported this project?

The Amparo Foundation, PepsiCo, the Kaluz Foundation, the Hojel Schumacher Foundation and the ASF Parent Association have supported this project.

Since when have you been working with FEAC and how have they supported the Fine Arts Center?

The American School Foundation has a long history working with Fomento Educacional, A.C., since the 90s. FEAC offered financial support for the naming of the theater's lobby. FEAC has also supported our Community Enrichment Academies, our academy for teaching English to SEP teachers.

What has been your experience working with Fomento Educacional, A.C.?

Very professional and positive! FEAC and the ASF have many values in common.

What do you hope to achieve with this new Fine Arts Center?

We hope to offer opportunities to the school's students and the Bondojito-area community for their development in the arts.
